Is There Really Such a Thing as a Perfectly Planned Life?

Life has unexpected plans

From a young age, many of us learn that life has a certain “recipe” for happiness and success: graduate, get a job, get married, buy a house, and check all the boxes that lead to fulfillment. And like many of you, I believed that if I followed this formula, I’d end up exactly where I was meant to be.

At 20, I had a degree in interior design, a good job, a home, and a marriage. It all looked perfect on paper, but by 21, that perfect life had fallen apart. I was divorced, leaving my house, and facing an overwhelming need to start over.

In my 30s, I tried to build a “perfect” life all over again, this time with more experience and determination. I had a husband, a beautiful home, and a career I cared about. But once again, I found myself having to let go of everything I had worked so hard to build. Each time, I was left wondering why life kept steering me back to square one.

Looking back, I realize that each plan I created was based on beliefs and expectations I didn’t even realize I had absorbed. They weren’t my dreams; they were ideas I’d picked up from what I saw around me. Family, culture, religion, and society had all shaped my life choices, even though my family never pressured me to follow this path. In fact, they didn’t love my choices in partners or where I lived, but they let me make my own decisions. I had simply assumed that a “good life” meant following the same steps I saw others taking.

The Impact of Deeply Ingrained Conditioning

Through years of introspection, I came to understand that this invisible checklist I was living by was a form of conditioning. Our minds can shape expectations based on what we see and hear, creating “rules” we don’t even realize we’re following. And, like me, you might find yourself wondering: Where did my dreams go? What am I actually working toward?

For decades, I lived according to this unseen framework, a life shaped by beliefs instilled through the culture I grew up in. As a young woman, the lessons I took from my faith and upbringing shaped me to be a “good wife,” one who honored and followed her husband. This instinct to follow instead of lead was deeply ingrained, and for years, I found myself living according to the preferences and plans of the man in my life—even when it conflicted with my own desires.

It took years to separate my true self from this conditioning. I had to confront my inner beliefs, separate myself from external expectations, and listen to my own inner truth. I had to unlearn what I thought I knew about success, fulfillment, and self-worth. It’s been a long, winding path of releasing, reclaiming, and realigning with who I am at my core.

Reclaiming Your Truth and Building Your Own Life Path

When unexpected life events happen; like divorce, loss of loved ones, ending of a career, kids leaving the home, you find yourself in a place in between. Starting Life over again. Yet, you already built this life once. Maybe you are asking yourself "What's next?" "Who am I?" "Where do I go from here?"

If you’ve been on a similar path, you might feel the weight of these invisible expectations too. Maybe you’ve also built a life that looks perfect but doesn’t feel like yours. You might be feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or uncertain about what you really want.

That’s where I come in.

As a Transformational and Personal Growth Coach, my mission is to guide women through the process of peeling back these layers of conditioning and discovering the truth beneath. Together, we’ll dig into those inherited beliefs, explore your own unique values and desires, and create a path that feels true to who you are. It’s a journey of self-discovery, self-compassion, and ultimately, self-liberation.

Imagine building a life based on your authentic self—free from the constraints of what others expect or what you “should” be doing. This path isn’t always easy, but the freedom and fulfillment that come from living in alignment with who you truly are make it worth every step.
